1. Messages from Onyx
- We send service messages (billing reminders, security alerts, order and support updates) because they're necessary to run your account; these can't be opted out of while you have an account.
- We send marketing messages only with your express consent, or implied consent from an existing business relationship, as CASL allows. Every one identifies Onyx, gives a way to contact us, and includes an unsubscribe link that takes effect within 10 days — usually immediately.
- We don't buy lists, scrape addresses, or send to people who haven't interacted with us. Lead-form submissions from ads are treated as a request for information and followed up for a limited period, then stopped.
2. Messages you send through OnyxDine
The platform lets restaurants send SMS, WhatsApp and email to their guests — order status, reservation confirmations, waitlist alerts, and, if the guest has agreed, promotions. When you send them, you are the sender under CASL. You agree to:
- Send transactional messages (order ready, table ready, booking confirmed) only to guests who triggered them.
- Send promotional messages only to guests who gave consent, which the platform records with date and method.
- Keep your restaurant name and contact details in every message (the platform adds these automatically).
- Honour opt-outs. Replies of STOP / ARRÊT are processed by the platform and the number is suppressed from promotions.
- Not import contact lists you don't have consent for.
3. Enforcement
We monitor complaint and opt-out rates. Accounts with unusually high complaint rates, evidence of purchased lists, or messages that mislead recipients will have messaging suspended and may be closed under the Abuse Policy. Twilio and carriers may independently block numbers that generate complaints.
4. Report spam
Received something from Onyx or an OnyxDine restaurant you didn't want? Forward it to hello@onyxdine.com, subject "Spam report". We investigate every report and act within 5 business days. You can also report to the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) at fightspam.gc.ca.
